How soon after installation should new asphalt be sealcoated?
At TM Asphalt Sealing, we recommend waiting at least 90 days after installing new asphalt before applying a sealcoat. This gives the asphalt time to cure and allows any oils to evaporate, which helps the sealcoat adhere properly. Applying a sealcoat too soon can trap those oils, leading to a softer surface.
For best results, especially in Southern Michigan’s climate, waiting through one full winter season can help the asphalt settle before sealcoating. If you’re unsure, give us a call, and we’ll help you figure out the right timing for your pavement.
